The Viking Athletic Department is very excited to announce the hiring of our new Head Football coach Larry Lumbreras. “Coach Lumbreras brings a great deal of knowledge and a high level of energy to the program” said Athletic Coordinator Jacob Anderson. “We could not be more excited to welcome Coach Lumbreras back to Viking Nation!”

Coach Lumbreras was an Asst. Football and Baseball coach at Lanier from 2006-2009 before returning to his hometown where he worked 9 seasons as an Offensive Coordinator as well as a head baseball coach until last season when he was at Lehman HS in Hays CISD.

The Lumbreras File –

Coach Larry Lumbreras was born and raised in Dilley, Tx, where he graduated from Dilley High School. Following high school, Coach Lumbreras graduated from Huston-Tillotson University with his B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies and is entering his 13th year as a teacher/coach. While at Huston-Tillotson he played on the HT baseball team at the NAIA level. While at Dilley for 9 years, 4 were spent as a offensive coordinator where he won 1 district title and 2 Bi-District titles. Coach Lumbreras was also the head baseball coach at Dilley for 6 years making it to the playoffs all 6 years and winning 3 Bi-District titles along the way. Coach Lumbreras is returning to Lanier from Lehman HS where he was a defensive assistant coach.
Coach Lumbreras is married to Amanda Lumbreras and have three daughters Audrey(14), Sierra(11), and Gabby(9).
