The Lady Vikings had a historic night Friday with all three teams beating the once mighty Jags. The Viks have been working hard all year and it showed last night with breakout performances on all levels. Shout out to the JV team who played their best game of the year led by the relentless tag-team energy of newcomer Sara Silva and veteran Ruth Valladeres. Jasmine Washington also had a breakout game for the JV scoring a career high 16 points.
The Varsity team took down the Jags 48-39 with one of their most complete games of the season. Erica Coleman led the show with a classic Coleman scoring bombardment. She finished with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. The four fearless sophomores stepped up in a big way last night and showed that the future is bright for Lady Viking Basketball. Tajahnae Gillespie had 14 points, Deshanae Swist had 7 points, Makiaya Carothers had 4 points, and Tajahnique Gillespie had 3 points. However, it wasn’t the scoring that stood out. It was the relentless hustle, teamwork, and positive attitude from everyone that made the Jags no match for the Viks.
The Lady Viks are now 3-2 in district play and face off against Lampassas next Tuesday and then play McCallum at home Friday. We would love to see you at the game. Freshmen play at 5:30, JV at 6:30 and Varsity at 8:00pm.
