Viking Baseball took the lead late in the game in a 10-9 victory over Travis on Friday.
The Viks earned the victory despite allowing Travis to score five runs in the top of first inning.
After Travis scored one run in the top of the fourth, the Viks answered with one of their own. The Viks came charging back led by freshman Oscar Peralta who doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Saul Mondragon picked up the win in relief of Mario Mireles who pitched very well for 5 innings. Ivan Pizano threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Pizano recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Viks.
Mario Mireles started the game for Lanier. He lasted five innings, allowing three hits and six runs, only 1 earned. while striking out five.
The Viks offense continued to shine tallying ten hits in the game. Peralta, Luis Adame, and Zachary Heimann each collected multiple hits. Peralta led the way with three hits in four at bats.
The Vikings will return to action Tuesday in a key rivalry matchup with Crockett.
