Lady Viking basketball had a big second day at the Navarro High School basketball tournament. After losing two close games the first day, the Viks came back Friday and beat Center Point 39-34 and then St. Stephens 54-26. Junior Erica Coleman and senior EJ King filled up the basket in both games. Coleman went for 14 and 10 while King had 8 and 18, respectively. Lock-down defense was supplied by sophomore DJ King and senior Kadasia Duirden. Both girls also chipped in 15 points between the two games. Lizbeth Ponce had a breakout performance in the first of the two wins, and helped the Viks pull away early in the second game by drilling a deep three in the first half. Ponce, Evelyn Castro, and Carol Rodriguez all contributed crucial energy in both match-ups.
The Viks prepare for the bronze bracket championship game tomorrow at 6pm.
