The Lady Viking JV and Varsity teams improved in district play this week beating the Eastside Memorial Panthers on both levels. The JV won 41-29 led by Kastazia Thomas’ 15 points. Freshmen Jasmine Riley brought her usual defensive chaos, snatching up a mind boggling 10 steals converted for 7 points. Zaria Sheffield also had a personal best with 6 points.

The Varsity started off slow offensively, but the amazing speed and energy on both ends of the ball provided by Zylann Wallace(10 pts, 7 steals) gave the Viks the spark they needed to outscore the Panthers 66-26. Again the net was filled up by the Freshmen/Senior scoring duo of Erica Colman(24 pts) and Maddy Brown(12 pts). The newcomer, Coleman, who is averaging just over 20 points a game in district play has really complemented the veteran consistency of Brown who is averaging 13 pts and 8 rebounds per outing.  Other notable contributions came from Precious Brewer(4 pts, 11 rebs), Kadasia Duirden(6 pts), Kiawnna Roberts(4 pts, 6 rebs) and Ivy Henry(4 pts, 5 steals).

Please congratulate all the Lady Vikings on the win and come out to support us this Friday as we face Bastrop away. The next home game will be our senior night on 1/15 against McCallum.
